The Roeper MS Boys Track and Field Team turned a corner over the weekend and placed 7th out of 26 teams at the Lutheran High School Northwest Invitational. Several incredible performances led to the remarkable 7th place finish. William Hoover won the 1600m at the event with a suspenseful finish against Trinity Lutheran and other fierce contenders. William posted a personal best time of 5:23.15 and brought home the gold for Roeper. Hoover also took second in the 400m, 4th in the 800m, and his 1600m relay team with Dylan Stefeil, James Snyed, and Cassius Catallo also grabbed 4th overall. Cassius Catallo was not supposed to run the 1600m Relay (Jonah Mougoue was out sick), yet with Catallo running the team took 4th place overall and the best time of the year. Another standout performance was 6th grader Alex Lyon taking 2nd place in the boys 100m. We also saw notable finishes from James Sneyd with an 8th place finish in the 1600m and a 9th place finish in the 800m. The boys 800m Relay and 400m Relay teams both came in 9th overall; great accomplishments considering the number of schools and the amount talent. The team is coming together and filling in gaps when gaps need to be filled. The boys compete again at Greenhills on Wednesday.
