Roeper Cross Country narrowly misses Regional title by two points to Cabrini. Roeper anchored by senior, Will Hoover (2 time MIAC MVP) gave Allen Park Cabrini a good run for their money. Will finishing as the Regional Champion and stood by the finish line cheering on his teammates as they challenged for the MHSAA Regional title and solidified a team trip to the MHSAA State Finals. Freshman, Van “snickers” Saroukhanian Placed 7th, sophomore Yasir Yuhas who lost a shoe at mile one placed 14th, freshman A.J. Owen had a person best and finished 18th, and sophomore Aiden Song finished the scoring at 33rd. Roeper advances to the State Finals held at MIS next Saturday.
Roeper veteran coach commented on the day “I am so proud of how this team pulled together to accomplish a feat that has never been reached in school history of qualifying a full team to attend the State Meet at Michigan International Speedway. This is by far the best team I have coached in my 15 years. Each runner on the team rose to the occasion and surpassed my expectations. This was truly an amazing accomplishment and a bright moment in a challenging 2020 year.”
